THE SUMMER OF 2025----MONDAY  JULY _14___ THRU MONDAY JULY ___21___ IS OUR NEXT TRIP TO JAMAICA AND WE NEED HELP

JAMAICA
NEXT TRIP:   JULY   --14-21 ,2025(MON-MON)

Jamaica Craighead Clinic

The next trip is scheduled for JULY_14___   --- ___21____  2025 (monday-monday)___

I fly Southwest flight_#_____  from nashville at __    AM ON JULY _______

HOUSING:
some of the group will probably prefer to stay at the church or at the Bryce Guest House. There is a new dorm with two bedrooms and 4 beds and a kitchen attached to the church where 4 people can sleep at no charge.  Others can sleep in the church at no charge if desired.  There are 4 bathrooms and 2 showers available.
The Bryce Guest House is very luxurious with a kitchen, lots of space, which. is only thirty minutes from the church. It is $40 per night (per person), but well worth it, as it is very Jamaican as well as very comfortable. I

MEALS:
There will be peanut butter, cheese or tuna sandwiches  provided for lunch each clinic day.
There will be nightly cooked bountiful meals. There will be a few meals on the road while in transit. We we will stop at a supermarket in Montego prior to travel to Craighead to stock up on food and water for the week at Craighead.

INVOLVEMENT:
We can use up to 15 people, all are welcome with any skills to offer such as (teaching, patient registration, counseling, construction, computer skills, health care administration and any type of social help.)

All health care persons with professional degrees (Dr.s, RNs, and LPNs) will be registered with the medical or nursing council according to the requirements of short term volunteers, the forms for that are on this website and should be sent to me for review.

Our clinic patients will have all varieties of medical and social problems. We will have a large supply of medicines which we must provide for the clinics.  Permission for medications will be obtained with approval by the local pharmacy at Christiana. Our meds will be sent ahead through Map International but each person on the trip is requested to bring a suitcase full of other supplies that will be obtained from the donated supplies at Dr. Collins home.

We ask everyone bring an empty suitcase by my house before we leave. such as children's cold medicines and vitamins. Everyone is encouraged to bring lots of non-prescription meds
We cannot send liquid medicines ahead, so liquid cough and cold medicines for children could be brought in your checked luggage and this would be very helpful for the clinics.

COST BREAKDOWN

- Hairdryer and personal items
- Wet wipes for use in clinic - we ask everyone to bring a container of wet wipes.
- Books and Bibles for gifts and school supplies to donate
- Beach shoes and hiking shoes for those who desire to hike to the waterfall

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS:
The waterfall at Hector River is beautiful and a great place to swim and cool off.

Glury Cave and Forest Preserve are exactly 1 mile from Bryce Guest House.

Attractions on the south end of the island include: Black River, Pontoon Safari, and YS Falls, but these require a full day of travel which may not be feasible on every trip.

PERSONAL HEALTH CONCERNS:
COVID is unpredictable and immunization is recommended. No other immunizations needed unless concerned about Hepatitis A which is only of concern if eating unwashed fruit since all water is purified. The infectious illnesses in Jamaica are very similar to the US. Dengue Fever and Zika are mosquito borne illnesses that are uncommon in the Craghead area but can be seen on the coast - so mosquito/insect repellent is recommended.
